Definitions
- Deergender is a xenogender in which someone feels an extremely strong connection to deers or other cervids either strongly identifying with them or simply wanting to incorporate them into their gender to better understand their identity. It was made with neurodivergent people in mind, specifically autistic individuals, as well as people who may experience delusions relating to being a deer or other cervids. However, anyone may identify as deergender. One who identifies as deergender may refer to themself as a "deerboy," "deergirl," "deen-binary," or simply deergender or another combination, depending on their gender identity. - Original creation history of LGBTA Wiki article, dated August 25, 2014[1]
It is unclear where this version of deergender was coined, as no available revisions of the LGBTA Wiki's page for it cite any sources.
History
This version of deergender was coined in 2021 by Logan, an alter of the Chaotic System. He felt heavy relation to deer, having a deer form in the headspace and some partial memories of a past life when he was a deer. Because of these, and generally feeling part human and part deer, he didn't find other kingender-related terms that fit his experience, which motivated him to coin deergender. The deergender flag was uploaded to the LGBTA Wiki Wikia User ChaoticSasha, and according to the description of the image, the flag was created in in May 2021.
