'''Genderclay''' is a gender that is changeable, moldable, and/or pliable, that one can shape themself, or be shaped by outside factors. It is a gender similar to [[Genderfluid]], but has an element of control to it. Compared to Genderfluid, Genderclay has more emphasis on being pliable rather than fluid.

==Etymology==
The basis of the term came from the characteristic pliability of clay, a type of soil that develop plasticity when wet, but become hard or brittle upon drying or firing.

==History==
Genderclay was coined by tumblr user [https://noname-nonamorous.tumblr.com/ Noname-Nonamorous] on August 22, 2021.<ref>[https://noname-nonamorous.tumblr.com/post/660181337016320000/genderclay The coining and flag of Genderclay by Noname-Nonamorous]</ref> The term originated from the coiner's feelings toward how Genderfluid is close but still does not quite fit them. Sometime around December 2020, the coiner had an idea about using clay instead of fluid, and then some months later officially coined the term based on the idea.

The Genderclay flag was posted alongside the term coining on August 22, 2021.<ref>[https://noname-nonamorous.tumblr.com/post/660181337016320000/genderclay The coining and flag of Genderclay by Noname-Nonamorous]</ref> It was also made by the same person who coined the term (Noname-Nonamorous). The flag itself is reminiscent of the Genderfluid flag, the flag having three main color stripe and two very light and very dark stripes between the other three. The three color stripes (dark cream, brown, and red-ish brown) represents clay and the diversity of genderclayness, coming from the different colors clay can look like. The grey-tinted white can represent clean clays that are factory made, genderclayness that feels “newer”, or genderclayness that feels like its still very pliable and never been baked. The dark grey-ish brown can represent natural clays that came directly from the earth, genderclayness that feels “older”, or genderclayness that feels like its been baked and turned solid.

{{Quote|'''Genderclay'''
okay so, a while ago (like, all the way from december 2020) i was sorta flip flopping on if i wanted to identify as genderfluid or not, i felt like it sorta fits me but also like it sorta didnt?
and it got me thinking about the -fluid of genderfluid, about how it implies, well, fluids! like a liquid. it implies a gender that does what it wants and is kinda unpredictable, which doesnt feels quite right for me
and while i was contemplating it i had a realization of oh! what about clay! its pliable instead of fluid! you could shape it and outside influences could also shape it, and so i made this!
[ID. A five striped flag reminiscent of the genderfluid flag. The colors, top to bottom, are dark cream, grey-tinted white, brown, dark brown, and reddish brown. End]
'''Genderclay -''' a gender similar to genderfluid, but has an element of control to it, more pliable rather than fluid ; a gender that is changeable, moldable, and/or pliable, that you can shape yourself, or be shaped by outside factors
* The browns are for clay and the diversity of genderclayness, coming from different colors that clay can look like.
* The grey-tinted white can be for clean clays that are factory made, for (gender)clayness that feels “newer”, or for (gender)clayness that feels like its still very pliable and never been baked
* The brown-ish dark grey can be for natural clays that came directly from the earth, for (gender)clayness that feels “older”, or for (gender)clayness that feels like its baked and solid
particularly for genderclays who has a more active role in their moulding of gender(clayness), it also has an element of creation and an element of choice to it, so it could be somewhat placed under CINN (maybe ill make another subset for gclay thats in the same naming convention of other CINN genders)
i got some genderclay subset ideas but no names as of yet, [names] in brackets are not the actual names i just wanted to put something in
* gender[claybaked], a subset of genderclay where your gender was ''once'' pliable, but now is no longer pliable or its now settled into a firm shape, sorta like baking clay
* gender[ ], a subset of genderclay where your gender(clay) is never going to harden/is incapable of hardening, it exists in a forever pliable state, prime for moulding
* gender[play-doh], a subset of genderclay where your gender(clay) has a more fun element to it, like the action of moulding it and shaping it is rewarding and/or fun, like play-doh
* gender[dirtclay], a subset of genderclay where your gender is more influenced by outside factors or came to be/came from outside influences OR a gender(clay) that feels old and more like it is/it was a part of nature, like dirt clay
notes:
* i first put the clay- in front it but i changed it cuz i found theres already a claygender, plus the naming is more similar to genderfluid now
* difference between claygender and genderclay would be “gender related to clay” and “gender that has attributes/characteristics ''reminiscent'' of clay”. id also put it in the same boat as genderfluid actually, genderfluid more liquid-y + “does what it wants” and genderclay more pliable + “have to be shaped”
* people are welcome to make more subsets if they want to! also you dont rlly ''need'' to credit me if ur gonna use it for urself (though it is appreciated), just dont claim ur the one that made it and we’re good ^__^|Noname-Nonamorous|Tumblr August 2021}}
