Definitions

"Genderqueer" as a term is a diverse one, which can be used as a standalone gender term or a descriptor of gender queerness and being gender non-conforming. Genderqueer guys may or may not consider themselves transgender[1] or nonbinary[2]: [3]There are many experiences that can be described as genderqueer guy[4][5]. Many definitions involve viewing masculinity or maleness through a genderqueer lense.[6]

1. personally, my gender is very connected to maleness but it feels like…parallel to binary maleness in a way, like it’s different but similar enough that i still really like being seen as a guy. i also feel that my gender is like a neutral version of male in a way, because ive never really connected with masculinity on a presentation level or just in terms of describing my gender. so i guess that would be my personal definition of genderqueer guy

2. in general, the term genderqueer guy could encompass a ton of different experiences. i’m thinking about making a post with as many different examples as i can think of but i’ll put a few here:

a masc-aligned nonbinary person

a bigender person whose two genders are genderqueer and male

a multigender person who feels that their male/masc gender is the primary identity, or whose full range of gender experiences could be described as genderqueer guy altogether

a genderfluid person who’s often a male/masc gender or whose full range of gender experiences could be described as genderqueer guy altogether

a genderflux person whose gender is male/masc when at its strongest

an agender person who likes being seen as a guy in day to day life or who feels that if they had a gender it would be male/masc

an afab person who feels that their gender would be totally binary male but has been somehow affected by being raised/perceived as female

an amab person who feels that their gender would be totally nonbinary but feels connected to maleness due to being raised/perceived as male

a neurodivergent person who feels that their gender would be totally binary male but that their connection to maleness has been affected by their neurodivergency

a person who feels such a strong connection to being a gay man that they feel a connection to maleness as a result but wouldn’t feel like a man if it weren’t for their attraction to men

— Tumblr user Positivelygenderqueer guy, https://archive.md/HPVv4

Genderqueer guy can also be considered an umbrella term for terms like demiboy, trans man, and other terms of trans manhood.[7] In this case, "genderqueer guy" is very similar and overlaps with "genderqueer man" and/or "nonbinary boy," but may be used over other terms because of personal preference.
