Xenine (shortened to xen) is an adjective/adverb that refers to the act of having, or showing qualities associated with, xeninity.[1] Xenine does not fit within the western binary of gender, and as such does not have roles/stereotypes in the same way that masculine and feminine do. Xenine can be used to describe one's gender, one's gender presentation, or both.
Genders that are associated with xeninity include: xenogenders, xingenders, spacialian, and demixenic, among others. Not all individuals with xenine genders will present xeninely, and not all individuals who present xeninely have a xenine gender. Individuals of any gender or sexual orientation can present as xenine. Individuals of any sex assignment, but have a xenine gender or xenine gender presentation may be called transxenine.
Equivelent terms include masculine, feminine, and others.
The exact qualities associated with xeninity are highly subjective due to it being both a neolabel, and the expansive nature of xenogenders. Possible qualities that could associated with xeninity in include:
- Anything, depeding on the person.
- Genuineness, kindness, and multi-faceted expression.
- Social and relational uniqueness, alternative methods of communication.
- A gender expression which includes wearing fasion related to a xenogender, Ex: Cat ears for catgender.
- A gender expression which includes wearing alt fashion, having dyed or highly styled hair, and/or wearing unique make-up.
- A gender expression which includes using neopronouns.

History
The xenine flag was coined on January 12, 2019 by Tumblr user imoga-pride.[1] The term itself was in use before then, but an exact coining date has not been found. An alternate flag was created by wiki user honk4bees. The thrid alternate flag was created by ElderflowerJuice, aka tumblr user sleepypapillon.
